Gelato - It's not just for eating.

I've been in a crafty funk lately.  So much going on, and no desire to do anything above what I HAVE to do.
I ended up meeting this gal on one of the Project Life groups that I'm in and she did a Gelato/Stencil/Gel Medium tutorial that I {ADORED}.  You can find it here.  I pinned it for future use.

She has ALL SORTS of fun techniques in her blog, too.  This will be my new go-to spot when I need to get that mojo flowing again!!

Wednesday, I had some {mommy time} and went to my lair to play.

Here was my first attempt:

I loved the result, so I posted the in the PL group for her to see, and to my excitement, she said she wanted to feature me on her blog!! :)  Squeeeeeee!!!

I whipped up a few more cards:

This is SUCH an EASY (and WAY fun) technique to add some texture so some plain cards.  You can use them plain, or embellish to your taste.

Thanks, Heather, SO MUCH for featuring me today!!

Cuttin' and Stampin' - Quilt Challenge

Hey ya'll!

April 1 - 7, 2014
Challenge - Create a Quilt Pattern using paper or stamps

The design team is using LemonLush paper line for this weeks creations.  This paper line is perfect for quilting! You can pick up your own pack and the coordinating embellishments in our Facebook Store

Here's my take on this:

I came up with a cute little 4x6 card perfect for my pocket scrapbooking.

I wove the yellow and pink papers together and actually ran the square through my big xyron machine before I die cut them.  I know those puppies weren't going ANYWHERE after that!  Once they were stickered, I ran it through my Big Kick with one of the Project Life dies, doodled, added the Acetate Butterflies, and stuck down on my card. :)

Hope you like it!  Don't forget to link up your entries here.

Guest Designer - 3 Girl JAM - Things I Love

I got a message from my dear friend, Karen, a few weeks ago asking if I'd like to do a Guest Designer post for a fabulous Design Team that she's on for 3 Girl JAM.

Um, YES!!!  I would love to!! :)

I honestly have never used any of their ribbon so Karen sent me some and I can promise you that I will be purchasing some in the future!  It's soft, and super easy to work with.  I loved it!  This ribbon is also AWESOME for layering.  It's not thick so it doesn't add a ton of bulk to your page which really impressed me.

Before I had decided what project I was going to use it on, I knew from others that have used the ribbon that it was easy to dye so I knew that I could make it work on ANYTHING!!  I ended up not needing to, however, because the cream matches the paper/embellishments that I chose REALLY nicely. :)

Michaels has an exclusive Project Life core kit by the fabulous Maggie Holmes, but no embellishments to go along with it.  Since I work for Cuttin' and Stampin', I decided to add some of the embellishments to our store to fill that void. :)

Here's what I came up with:

Title card:
One of my all time favorite cards I've ever made - probably my favorite.

I used UmWow Studio arrow mash and heart mask for the black hearts and main arrow.  I used a gold Wink of Stella brush on the arrow, and a blue one on the butterfly.  I also added 2 Regal Gold Candi dots to add a little more oomph to the card.  Lots of dimension to this!!  Love it!  The UmWow chipboard is the best that I've found that makes the Wink of Stella ink the most glittery.  It's really kind of hard to see the glitter in the image, but trust me - it's there!!

The frame on the bottom right card is a fabric frame that I just folded over the top of the picture since it's a bit bigger than this photo.  Love all of the different materials on this spread! :)  The blue heart and yellow geotag (left bottom picture) are from WeR Memory Keepers Enamel Dot collection.

Butterfly layered 4x6 card w/a strip of the 3 Girl JAM ribbon:
(again, lots of layers!)

3x4 Butterfly card with a simple knot of ribbon:

Thanks, Karen and 3 Girl JAM, for letting me Guest Design for you today!  It was a BLAST!!

Cuttin' and Stampin' - Pink, Orange and Grey Color Combo

January 28 - February 3, 2014

Weekly Challenge - Color Combination
Pink, Orange and Grey
A while back Teresa Collins introduced her You are My Happy line.  The design team went crazy over it.  We decided that it could be used in SO many wonderful ways that we couldn't put just one theme to it.  The challenge for you is to use the colors in the line to create a project.

(This line can also be found here for purchase!!  There is a complete product listing at the end of this post.)

In addition to this super cute line, we also just got in the CHA release from My Mind's Eye called "Record It!" and I. AM. IN. LOVE!!  I figure why not use 2 of the best paper companies out there together?!

I chose to use You Are My Happy and mix in some of the "Record It! - Charmed" line because the gold looks really good with the other collection.

I am NOT a gold-lover.  I don't own any gold jewelry so I was kind of surprised that I was loving these gold foiled cards.

Another issue I ran into was I am actually ALL caught up on my Valentines Day pictures!  So, I decided to create my spread for our 2014 Valentines Day. :)

(Not usually ahead of the game...kind of strange for me!!)

Here's what I came up with:

Left side:
(PS it's hard for me to create a spread with no pictures!!!  The white heart cards are where I'm planning my real pictures to be.  Using these place holders makes it easier for me to visualize since I usually put my pictures down first.)

Right side:

Right 3x4 cards:

If you want to link up and join us in this challenge, here is where to go!

Until next time.... :)

Cuttin' and Stampin' - Crate Paper Love Notes

Hi again!!  Another guest post for Cuttin' and Stampin'! :)
I'm kinda liking filling in for these awesome ladies!

January 21 - 27, 2014

Weekly Challenge - Anything Goes with Arrows

As a design team, we have seen SO many wonderful paper lines and projects created using arrows.  We decided we wanted to play with arrows too.  The design team is using the Crate Paper Love Note paper line and the Love Struck Paper Smooches stamp set.

I didn't use any arrows on my project, so I'm technically breaking the rules so don't follow my example! :)

I did however use the uber cute Crate Paper Love Note collection to make this Pocket Page:

Another heart veneer colored with the Wink of Stella brush in Dark Pink.

I also included a hidden journaling page.  :)

All of these products can be found for purchase here.

We hope you enjoy this challenge as much as we have.  You have until January 27th to enter your projects HERE.

Cuttin' and Stampin' Weekly Challenge - Non-Traditional Christmas Challenge

Hi again!!  I'm filling in again for one of January's {Pocket Thursday} posts!

Use some Christmas paper in a non-traditional way.
This week the Design Team is using Bazzill Basic Paper Believe collection to create with.

Cuttin' and Stampin' Scrappy Supplies Facebook Store Believe album has the paper and stickers available for purchase.

Looking at that paper, it's hard to imagine it as something other than Christmas paper.
Honestly?  I struggled with this challenge a bit.  But, alas, here's what I came up with.

These are the 3 sheets that I had to work with.  Tonight, I'm counting my blessings for double sided paper! :)

(I also used Echo Park's This and That for the embellishments.)

Before I start, I always lay my pictures out.
To me, it's more important to have all of the pictures I want vs. cute cards. :)

(cute cards are fun, too, but I think my little girl is cuter. :))

Once my pictures are laid out, I cut papers and lay them out as well.

Here's the left side:

Here's the right side:

So, this little red heart was colored with my new favorite product - a Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.  They're like muted stickles and have become my new addiction.  In the Cuttin' and Stampin' store, we have gold, silver, red, green, and clear available now with more colors on their way!  I was pleasantly surprised with how well it went on this wooden veneer.  I am 100% positive that this will become a staple in my Pocket Pages going forward!!

Now it's your turn to have some fun and create a project using Christmas Paper in a Non-Christmas way.  You have until January 13, 2013 to enter your projects HERE.

xoxo, Amber
