Cuttin' and Stampin' Weekly Challenge - Non-Traditional Christmas Challenge

Hi again!!  I'm filling in again for one of January's {Pocket Thursday} posts!

Use some Christmas paper in a non-traditional way.
This week the Design Team is using Bazzill Basic Paper Believe collection to create with.

Cuttin' and Stampin' Scrappy Supplies Facebook Store Believe album has the paper and stickers available for purchase.

Looking at that paper, it's hard to imagine it as something other than Christmas paper.
Honestly?  I struggled with this challenge a bit.  But, alas, here's what I came up with.

These are the 3 sheets that I had to work with.  Tonight, I'm counting my blessings for double sided paper! :)

(I also used Echo Park's This and That for the embellishments.)

Before I start, I always lay my pictures out.
To me, it's more important to have all of the pictures I want vs. cute cards. :)

(cute cards are fun, too, but I think my little girl is cuter. :))

Once my pictures are laid out, I cut papers and lay them out as well.

Here's the left side:

Here's the right side:

So, this little red heart was colored with my new favorite product - a Wink of Stella glitter brush pen.  They're like muted stickles and have become my new addiction.  In the Cuttin' and Stampin' store, we have gold, silver, red, green, and clear available now with more colors on their way!  I was pleasantly surprised with how well it went on this wooden veneer.  I am 100% positive that this will become a staple in my Pocket Pages going forward!!

Now it's your turn to have some fun and create a project using Christmas Paper in a Non-Christmas way.  You have until January 13, 2013 to enter your projects HERE.

"f" wooden door hanger.

My cute friend Rachel wanted a wooden door hanging so I made her one. :)
Used Maya Road banners for her last name, punchinella for the stars with a blue-ish Ranger Distress ink.

a wedding.

Over the weekend, I had the privilege of seeing my baby brother get married to his lovely sweetheart.  It was a tender wedding and so much fun.  So happy for them.  <3

She asked me to do a few decorations for her to display when you first walk in the reception hall.  Of course I obliged!

I made the small plaques with a wood burner.  I cut out shapes using my Cricut, traced and burned them into the wood.  (Thanks Michele for the inspiration!  She's also featured on TheCrop today.)  Then just randomlly embellished them.

On the "Smith" sign, I cut the letters using my Cricut (All Mixed Up fonts), mod podged them down.  There's some black streaks on the wood from me putting the MP on the black paper - made the color kind of come off.  I was upset when this initially happened, but ended up loving the effect that it made.  Gotta love those happy mistakes!!

new stuff.

I haven't been doing a TON of crafting this month.  We've had our son visiting from California so all of my free time has gone to him.  Had a great visit, but now it's time to get back to work!

I got caught up on a few things, including my previous Blog Hop winner's frame.  I love how it turned out!

I have lots of stuff coming up including some decorations for my brother's wedding, a Focus Group challenge, a Week in the Life album, and a Blog Hop!!  (Stay tuned for details on how you can participate!)
