UmWow Studio - July Sketch!

Feeling a little bit in a rut w/my PL'ing and this sketch challenge popped up on my FB news feed so I thought I'd give it a shot!

You can find the link up here if you want to join, too! :)

Here's my take.

Great elements in the original sketch, but it's hard to fit all of them on a 4x6 card so this is my interpretation of it. :)  I used the heart mask and Mustard 29 flair from the UmWow store.

Now, back to my table!!

Cuttin' and Stampin' - Crate Paper Love Notes

Hi again!!  Another guest post for Cuttin' and Stampin'! :)
I'm kinda liking filling in for these awesome ladies!

January 21 - 27, 2014

Weekly Challenge - Anything Goes with Arrows

As a design team, we have seen SO many wonderful paper lines and projects created using arrows.  We decided we wanted to play with arrows too.  The design team is using the Crate Paper Love Note paper line and the Love Struck Paper Smooches stamp set.

I didn't use any arrows on my project, so I'm technically breaking the rules so don't follow my example! :)

I did however use the uber cute Crate Paper Love Note collection to make this Pocket Page:

Another heart veneer colored with the Wink of Stella brush in Dark Pink.

I also included a hidden journaling page.  :)

All of these products can be found for purchase here.

We hope you enjoy this challenge as much as we have.  You have until January 27th to enter your projects HERE.

golden.

I am, without a doubt, in LOVE with Lady Antebellum's new single "Golden".

As I was on the way home from my parent's house over Memorial Day weekend, this song gave me the {perfect} idea for a LO that goes along with the sketch hosted by UmWowStudio over on Cropchocolate.com.

My husband is my everything.  This song is EXACTLY how I feel about him, and what better way to show that than with a picture of him, and the greatest gift he gave to me. :)

I did the journaling around the picture and one of the butterflies:

Here's the title:

a birthday card.

Here's a quick little card I made:

I struggle with "masculine" stuff...I prefer bright colors and flowers. :)

Linking up to:

cutting Washi Tape with the Cameo.

These pictures are awesome... Fotofly always does a GREAT job and I have never had a bad experience there.

However...

I have fought with these pictures for WEEKS - trying to find the "right" papers to match with them.  I put them up on my desk where I'd glare at them every time I'd walk into my lair.

2 friends suggest bring orange and pink but I never found the perfect papers.......

Until last night.

MME's "The Sweetest Thing" flower paper border on the right side got this ball rolling.

I wanted to use a brighter pop of pink than what's in the flowers and I had some perfect Washi Tape for it.

Then I got thinking - why not cut some brackets OUT of the bright Washi Tape so it all matches perfectly?  Off I went on another Cameo adventure. :)

It's super quick and easy.  I measured out the size of brackets I wanted, covered the measured white cardstock in the said Washi, and cut!  When cutting, make sure you adjust your paper thickness because it will NOT cut through on the first time.

I may or may not have figured that out by trial and error. :)

Here's a close up of the brackets:

print & cut with my Cameo.

I got this lovely little machine last year for Mother's Day.

Until now, I haven't really done TOO much with it.  I've got some shapes here and there, but it's really capable of SOOO much more!

I'm SO excited that I'm going to {HAVE} to learn how to use all of it's features because I'm SO lucky to be on the Design Team for "Silhouette Challenges"!

Silhouette Challenges

The term officially starts in June so I've got a little bit of time to play and figure some things out. :)

Here's a little card I made last night for a dear friend's father who is in the hospital and FINALLY being released today after 2 weeks in the joint.  I thought a little card would cheer him up.

The "thinking of you" portion was made with the "print/cut" feature.  I forsee a lot of this being used and saving oodles on stickers!!

I'm linking up with Silhouette Challenges May "Anything Goes" challenge.

love notes.

I know it's not Valentine's Day, but I found a project that my scrappy friend Karen did for her girls and I've been wanting to do for Neysa for a while now.

I turned an ordinary box into a patterned paper delight.  The top comes off so that I can put in little thoughts or sayings that remind me of her, or joy down funny things that she says and does.  I want to give this to her at one of her birthdays long down the road.

You can find the original post here.  Karen has all sorts of awesome tutorials and stuff on her blog, too so check those out!  I also used this for the weekly challenge at CropChocolate.com.

the man project.

Cropchocolate.com does a weekly challenge on Wednesdays.  This week's challenge was to use manly colors, and something clear.

I used Echo Park's Note to Self, and Snake Tape adhesive as well as a few other odds and ends.  I was VERY happy with how this turned out. :)

thankful.

For the Focus Group @ CropChocolate.com, the theme for the challenge for November was to create a project based on something that you're thankful for.

Here's the frame I made with my parents in mind:

Materials Used:  Paper, Stamps and embellishments all Autumn Splendor from MM.  TH Distress ink in Walnut Stain and Barn Door.  Perfect Pearl  spray in gold.  Wooden frame from Michaels.

culture shock - BATMAN!

The challenge over @ Culture Shock this week is BATMAN!

I immediately thought of the old-school cartoon that came BACK on TV after the new(er) ones were over when I was little.  Here was my first thought:

and here's what I came up with:

I wanted cleaner lines than the conversation bubble above so I chose circles and squares instead of jagged edges. :)

Don't forget to play along!  Come up with your interpretation of Batman, and link up here!
